Search and Rescue (SAR) efforts continued today throughout the Riddle and surrounding area for Mark Bosworth. Mr. Bosworth is a volunteer with the Cycle Oregon Event and was last seen in the Riddle area on Sept. 16, 2011 at approximately 2330 hrs. Mr. Bosworth may be suffering from a medical condition and might be confused about where he is.
Approximately 40 individuals associated with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office SAR Team and local volunteer Fire Departments assisted in the search. The use of ground tracking, air scent and cadaver K9's were also utilized. The search started today at daylight and continued throughout the day and into the dark. The search was called off at approximately 2000 hrs due to darkness. Search Teams will continue their search first thing in the morning.
The SAR Team did not locate any new information or evidence that might lead to the whereabouts of Mark Bosworth. As of today, the SAR Team has exhausted all possible leads in this case. The trickle of new information received by the Sheriff’s Office in regards to this incident has also started to slow down.
Anyone with any information regarding the possible location of Mr. Bosworth is strongly encouraged to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Again, Mark Bosworth is described as 6’00”, 180 lbs, with graying hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, black bicycle pants, shoes and a hat. He was last seen in the downtown area of Riddle on September 16, 2011 at approximately 2330 hrs.
(In the press release issued September 17, 2011 regarding this incident, it was indicated that approximately 3 miles of the Umpqua River was searched. That information was incorrect and the accurate information is approximately 3 miles of the Cow Creek River was searched outside of Riddle.)
